We wanted to take a little space to shine a light on a local favorite. The Crested Butte Nordic Center is a none profit that maintains 50 kilometers of scenic cross-country ski trails all around the Crested Butte area. They also offer rental gear, have a junior Nordic track team, senior programs, races, and even backcountry yurt dining. This Saturday, February 4th the Nordic Center is hosting its 37th annual Alley Loop Race. This Nordic Marathon is not like any other Nordic Marathon. This is a very serious race, a premier American Birkebeiner Qualifying event, but it is also a serious costume party. This race is a lot of fun and if you’re in town; yes, you will see a bunch of people skiing around town in costumes. It’s part of the awesomeness that is Crested Butte.
